About this painting:
From my research, contrary to what many people might think of the ruler of the underworld, Hades is not actively evil, and his role has more to do with maintaining balance. Generally his name Hades is thought to mean "the unseen one." I chose to adopt the look Disney gave him as sort of a pop art version of him. A modern concept I see him sort of representing in this case is the idea that there are those of us who are misunderstood, misrepresented, and through bias lenses labelled bad by societal terms, with our voices, wants and desires unheard and unseen.
